3. Comments and Reader Feedback

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string to facilitate automated spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to verify profile association. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.

4. Media and Uploads

If you upload images or benchmark screenshots to the website (for community reviews or form submissions), you should avoid uploading files with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors could theoretically extract location data from publicly accessible images.

5. Anonymous Audience Measurement, Cookies & Partner Links

At ZenScrib, we adhere to a strict data minimization philosophy and the utmost respect for your digital privacy:

• Self-Hosted Cookieless Analytics (Matomo): Our audience measurement is powered by our own private, self-hosted Matomo instance configured in cookieless mode (disableCookies) with automatic IP anonymization. In full compliance with GDPR and European data protection authorities (CNIL), this configuration is legally exempt from consent banner requirements. No cross-site tracking or advertising profiling is conducted.
• Essential Preference Cookies: We only deploy minimal functional cookies strictly required to retain your language selection (EN/FR) and interface presentation preferences.
• Affiliate Links & Outbound Partner Cookies: Some outbound links on ZenScrib are affiliate partner links (securely routed via /go/). Navigating ZenScrib deposits zero advertising or tracking cookies on your device. However, when you intentionally click a partner button to visit an external software provider, that third-party platform may place its own attribution cookie to credit referrals, subject to its own privacy policy.
• Comment Cookies: If you leave a comment on our articles, you may voluntarily opt-in to saving your name and email address in local cookies for your convenience on future visits (stored for 12 months).
